Tradies busy after weekend storms

Homeowners throughout the New South Wales and Queensland coastal areas have already begun making repairs following the storms that ravaged the coast over the weekend, with the number of repair job requests increasing dramatically over a four day period.

Data from hipages.com.au, a website to find and hire tradies, has revealed that demand for roof repairers, tree felling services, waterproofers and guttering services, increased at an astonishing rate between Friday June 3 and Monday June 6.  

Record spike in job requests in NSW and QLD (June 3-6 by job):

  • Roof repairs in NSW increased by 1015.15 percent
  • Roofing in NSW increased by 302.7 percent
  • Waterproofing in NSW increased by 322.22 percent
  • Gutter cleaning in NSW increased by 188.24 percent
  • Roof repairs in QLD increased by 211.76 percent
  • Roofing in QLD increased by 166.67 percent
  • Retailing wall installations in QLD increased by 57.14 percent

The largest spike in job requests has been for roof repairs. Jobs in NSW and Queensland (June 3-6 by region):

  • Requests in Parramatta increased by 2400 percent
  • Requests in Sutherland increased by 2000 percent
  • Requests in North-Western Sydney Suburbs increased by 1700 percent
  • Requests in Inner West Sydney Suburbs increased by 1350 percent
  • Requests in Western Sydney Suburbs increased by 925 percent
  • Requests in Gold Coast increased by 1500 percent

In addition to the home repairs, NSW saw an increase of 200 percent in emergency related jobs, including electricians, tree fellers and window repairs over the course of four days.
