The Malvern trophy home modelled on Melbourne's iconic Chanel building was sold at weekend auction for $3.46 million.

It was sold to a Chinese buyer through Jellis Craig agents Iain Carmichael and Genevieve Hoyle.

They said that the sale showed a very full price.

A Chinese bidder walked in for the first time 20 minutes before the auction started and didn't even have a chequebook on him, which he got delivered to the house.

Designed and built to sell, the new family home at 3 Plant Street has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a home office and a swimming pool in landscaped gardens
