There was a $4.1 million vendor bid placed when lawyer Paul Jones, of legal firm Jones Tulloch, and his wife, Mary put their Hawthorn home to weekend Kay & Burton auction.

No. 484 Glenferrie Road has stately bluestone, leadlight windows and an ornate verandah, in the Italianate style.

The four bedroom house is in the prestigious Scotch Hill precinct last traded at $600,000 in 1993 and at $780,000 in 1989.
