Hobart art collector and professional gambler David Walsh has been confirmed as the buyer of Moelis merchant Banker Andrew Martin's Darling Point home.

The property sold under the hammer for $7.5 million through McGrath's Ben Collier. No sign yet what Walsh intends to do with his Horizon, Darlinghurst penthouse.

Walsh owns the Museum of Old and New Art in Tasmania (MONA).

Andrew and his wife Kate who had paid $825,000 in 1995 are off to Paddington having paid about $10.5 million for the converted furniture emporium sold by billionaire tech entrepreneur Mike Cannon-Brookes and wife Annie.
