Recent figures from the Housing Industry Association note a dip in dwelling starts in 2016 across all states with NSW down 4 percent, Victoria down 13.1 percent and Queensland down 1.8 percent.
The HIA's latest housing forecasts for February shows dwelling starts down 9.2 percent nationally.
