A Toorak trophy home has been reportedly sold - believed to be the highest paid for a house in Melbourne this year.

It is a Yar Orrong Road manor rumoured to have sold for $20 million.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home sits on a 2137-square-metre elevated Yar Orrong Road site.

The home, designed by Alan Synman, last sold for $6.35 million in 2006 when bought by the Heffernan family.

Some property agents are unconvinced by the $20 million price credit first flagged by Fairfax Media which has a reputation for over reaching in its price speculation.
