To those business owners who think it's the developer's way or the highway, you might be right.



But perhaps the highway isn't so bad after all. Emil Peirnert, the owner of the Kingfish Pub in Oakland California, saw developers eyeing his site for an apartment project.

After attempting to have the 1920s-30s era former bait shop recognised as a landmark last year to prevent its destruction, Peirnert took matters into his own hands, and took the pub on the road. Just 30 metres down the road, but still.

The story's been picked up by multiple news outlets, with City Lab tweeting a photo (originally posted by Eric Drac Weir on Facebook) of the two hour process.
