Lance 'Buddy' Franklin, the former Hawk AFL champion turned Sydney Swan, secured $1.73 million when his contemporary Brighton East house was recently sold.

The 55 Hodder Street offering had $1.6 million to $1.7 million price guidance, but no sale price has been revealed until the settlement details were lodged last week.

The records show it appears it was a cash buyer, with no registered mortgage on the Melbourne house.

After renting briefing elsewhere in Brighton, Franklin bought the house on its 678 square metre block in late 2010 for $1,635,000 through hockingstuart.

He secured a $95,000 gain, reflecting less than 1.5% annual price gain over nearly fours years of ownership.

The four-bedroom, two bathroom home with a pool had also sold at $1.45 million in 2006 on its completion.

He is not yet known to have bought any Sydney property.

Franklin controversially switched to Sydney following Hawthorn's 2013 premiership victory on a nine year, multi-million dollar contract.

He kicked 79 goals in his first season as a Swan, but his new team succumbed to the Hawks in this year's Grand Final.
