Thor's Chris Hemsworth spends $7 million at Byron Bay

Actor Chris Hemsworth has reportedly spent about $7 million to buy Kooeloah, the Broken Head, Byron Bay retreat, according to News Ltd.

With its name meaning 'home of the dolphins', it’s a haven away from the Hollywood fast lane overlooking Seven Mile Beach from its lagoon and lap pools complete with two bales.

The road into the property doesn't even have a name, the marketing suggested.

The multi-level Balinese-style main residence comes with three more villas over its 4.2-hectare holding.

All up there are eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms.

It was listed in 2012 with reported $15 million hopes, so Hemsworth's unconfirmed purchase would appear nicely timed.

Local architect Christine Vadasz designed the Balinese-style home, which was built by Ian Heanes for Suinee Wong Lomas, a retired film and television producer, and Eric Lomas, the retired chief executive of Singapore’s The Yellow River Network, after they bought the northern NSW property in 1989.

When approached by The Australian Suinee said she could not disclose anything about the sale.

There were sightings of Hemsworth around the Byron township last week, appearing on Facebook after he stopped into Yoflo for some of Byron's best frozen yoghurt.

No estate agent was given credit for the reported sale.
