Bikie crackdown assists Gold Coast property revival: Poll of the day

Billionaire Harry Triguboff has suggested the Queensland government’s crackdown on criminal gangs on the Gold Coast has assisted the recovery of the property market.

“I am very happy with what Campbell Newman has done with the criminals,” Harry Triguboff is quoted saying in the Australian Financial Review.

“The criminals were in the best parts such as Surfers Paradise, it’s not like they were just living at Logan.

“It was quite frightening to walk in the commercial areas of Cavill [Avenue] at night but it is not any more.”

He suggested the effect was evident with both interstate and foreign buyers.

“For foreigners when they come to a strange place, they already are unsure of themselves,” Triguboff said,

“So they needed to know they were safe too.”
