Barramunga, the classic two storey home set well back off Point Nepean Road at Sorrento, has been sold for $2.01 million.

It has upstairs views of Camerons Bight.

Barramunga kicked off the 2014 Australia Day long weekend auctions which faced buyer hesitation.

Title Tattle recalls the auction of the six bedroom cottage on its 3,474 square metre holding opened and closed on its $1.9 million vendor bid by the auctioneer Gerald Delany, who'd told the crowd that the site had been the choicest of selections in the 1920s by the stockbroker John Hindsen.

After three decade ownership, it was offered by Toorak dentist Geoffrey Wymond and his wife Diane who had it listed through Liz Jensen from Kay & Burton Portsea.
