Architect Martin Gehrckens secured the sale of his Kew arts-and-crafts-style home after last weekend's auction where it was passed in at $1.8 million.

The 1928 Boscawen, set near Willsmere village, last traded 23 years ago when Gehrckens, a senior project architect at architecture firm Baldasso Cortese, and his wife Pamela, secured the Willsmere Road house.

The downsizing couple extended and refurbished the four-bedroom property, which comes with two upstairs studies as well as a ground-floor home office.

Desiree Wakim of Marshall White secured the sale post-auction at an undisclosed price after auctioneer Hamish Tostevin took an opening $1.5 million bid from one of the two interested bidders.
