Art gallery owner Rob Gould’s South Yarra home had been listed for sale with $5.5 million plus hopes, before it was passed in at weekend auction on a $4.8 million vendor bid. It now comes with a $5,295,000 asking price.

Renovated by architect John Wardle, the four-bedroom early 1900s Park Street semi was listed by Marshall White agent Marcus Chiminello.

It's all on a modest 379 square metre block behind its ordinary classic Victorian facade.

The gallery owner’s art collection features works including the Scott Redford sculpture 'My Beautiful New Polar Bear' in its courtyard.

The prominent art dealer received media attention in 2012 when his former partner, Sotheby’s Australia chairman Geoffrey Smith, took legal action in an attempt to secure a share of assets after their 14-year relationship came to an end.
