Modernised 1960s Black Rock beauty listed for June auction

The Black Rock home of Mel Sutton and his wife, Deanne has been listed for 14 June auction.

The couple are planning to make the move to an acreage in Flinders.

The 219 Beach Road, Black Rock property has been listed through Kay & Burton agentsBert Geraerts and Alex Schiavo with $3.2 million plus expectations.

Built in the 1960s, its comprehensive renovation saw the residence awarded Bayside's best extension renovation in 2010. It has featured in House & Garden magazine.

Mel Sutton's corporate career included being the Nike Australia chief, as well as positions with Colorado, Globe, Fosters and Spotless.

He is currently director of strategy with Lion, Dairy & Drinks.

It has been the family home for three years, just across the road from Half Moon Bay.

Title Tattle recalls the 2006 sale at 219 Beach Road, Black Rock at $1,285,000. Valuers assessed $285,000 as representing the value of improvements leaving $1,000,000 as the price for the land, reflecting a sale at $1,200 per square metre of unimproved land.

It resold again in 2009 at $2.82 million, and then at $3,025,000 in 2011.
