Alexandria warehouse with Dale Jones-Evans conversion sells for $3 million
Continuing the recent run of bullish inner Sydney warehouse sales, the BresicWhitney agency secured a very snappy $3 million sale this week in Alexandria.
The 1920s property at 127 Buckland Street came with a design by architect Dale Jones-Evans.
It was a 370 square metre open plan ground level flooded with atrium light. Upstairs had the two bedrooms. There was curved glass, old beams, exposed steel and polished concrete floor.
Even a zen garden.
With views towards Alexandria Park, it was marketed as within a city fringe growth hub, selling well ahead of the March 8 scheduled auction through BresicWhiteny agents Chris Nunn and Shannon Whitney. Their initial price guoidance was $2.5
It was 1997 when the singer-songwriter and adman John Hanlon secured the old building for $920,000 which came with approval for nine apartments.
But his amended plans for for just the three apartments with his twice the size of the others. Last November a freestanding Surry Hills warehouse at 8-10 Marlborough Street (pictured below) sold for $5.7 million, just $10,000 shy of the suburb's warehouse record price.

Set on 501 square metres, it was marketed through Shannan Whitney and Nic Krasnostein as an opportunity for residential/commercial redevelopment given its B4 mixed use zoning.
