Hawthorn Hill development to top Burwood Road

HAWTHORN is set to receive yet another apartment development, with Hawthorn Hill. Construction commences this month on the Grollo Group development, which has already sold 52 of its 63 apartments.

The one and two bedroom apartments, designed by architects ROTHELOWMAN, range from 41 square metres to 103 square metres, with prices starting from $385,000. Buyers can choose from a variety of additional options for the interior of their apartment, including colour schemes, brass and copper tap ware, and European appliances.

The new development will integrate two street-facing heritage buildings – a mansion, built in 1880, and the 1913 Salvation Army Citadel. Both buildings will accommodate apartments, and the mansion will provide the development’s entrance lobby. The remaining apartments will be set back from the existing façade.

“[The] intention has been to create an elegant response that celebrates and enhances the original form while delivering landmark HAWTHORN residences that will remain relevant,” ROTHELOWMAN managing director Shane Rothe said.

Hawthorn Hill’s central location opposite Swinburne University will allow residents easy access to local private schools, public transport and bike lanes.

The development’s situation high on Burwood Road will give upper levels uninterrupted city views when construction is completed in mid-2015.
