A refurbished 1895 property overlooking Manly Cove is this week’s most expensive sale selling under the hammer for $4 million, according to RP Data.

Located on East Esplanade, the four-bedroom home last sold in 2012 for $1.95 million and boasts period features throughout.

The home was originally a boarding house but was purchased in 1985 for $415,000 and was converted into a 27-room guesthouse.

The guesthouse went to market eight years later in 1993 and secured $1.35 million.

The home now features three bathrooms, including a parent’s limestone ensuite, a designer marble kitchen and a travertine-entertaining terrace.

Ben Daniel and Jenny Nott of First National Real Estate Manly held the property.
