Or have you ever considered staying in a train carriage? The Last Stop Ambledown Brooke self-contained train carriages are much more appealing than your average work commute.

Located in Canberra, each train carriage sleeps two guests and is priced from $180 a night.

Located in New South Wale’s Gundagai, Church House Bed and Breakfast offers accommodation in exactly that; a historic church.

Featuring three bedrooms, this historic church can sleep up to six people with rooms starting from $175 a night.

Last but not least, you can accommodate your inner child with this fairytale-like cottage in Coonabarabran, known as The Old Schoolhouse. 

This octagonal cottage can sleep up to eight and is priced from $130 for two people.
