First home buyer grants not the solution to rising house prices

Yesterday evening, a number of property commentators, including AMP Capital's Shane Oliver, discussed what could be done about the increasing property prices and first home buyer difficulties.
What did emerge, were comments that FHB 'handouts' or grants, may not be the way forward.
A debate continued that included the concept of getting rid of negative gearing, potential supply increases and decentralising the reliance on city centres.
