Construction on the $7 million North Bondi Surf Live Saving Club’s new clubhouse is now complete.

Architecturally designed by Sydney architects Durbach Block Jaggers and constructed by North Sydney based construction company Taylor, the four-level clubhouse has been designed to blend with its coastal setting through curved lines and sparkling, mottled Trencadis mosaic cladding.

Mark Taylor, principal of Taylor says the clubhouse will become an architectural icon.

“Our project team has worked closely with the Club, Council and Durbach Block Jaggers in association with Peter Colquhoun, to create an aesthetically appealing and highly functional public building that will become an architectural icon.

“The state-of-the -art clubhouse sets a new benchmark for life saving facilities in Australia,” says Taylor.

The clubhouse provides more accommodation than the original building and includes change rooms, first aid facilities and a gym with a sauna.

The two top floor function rooms include a kitchen, bar and a member’s lounge.

“It was a complex and at times challenging project, however we were determined to overcome the challenges to construct an outstanding building for the Club’s members, who have worked tirelessly for this project,” says Taylor.

The project was completed within a 60-week timeframe.
