Spring auction volumes remain strong but clearance rate dips slightly: RP Data

As the weather warms and auction volumes increase, the clearance rate across the capital cities has decreased from 74.9% the previous week to 74.6% this week, according to RP Data.

Some 1,941 auctions are scheduled across the capital cities this week.

The number of auctions across the capital cities almost doubled last week from 1,054 the previous week to 2,074 last week.

At the same time last year there were 1,469 auctions and the clearance rate was substantially lower at 52.8%.

Melbourne held a revised figure of 974 auctions last week, almost double the amount held on election weekend at 530 auctions.

Melbourne will hold a similar amount again this week, with 928 auctions scheduled.

The clearance rate decreased slightly from 74.7% the previous week to 73.6% last week.

At the same time last year Melbourne held 736 auctions and had a clearance rate of 55.6%.

Sydney’s auction volume more than doubled last week to 806 auctions from 337 the previous week.

Sydney’s preliminary clearance rate also dropped slightly from 85.1% the previous week to 84.3% last week.

At the same time last year Sydney held 512 auctions and had a clearance rate of 56.7%.

Sydney is scheduled to hold 687 auctions this week.
