House Rules fell short last night but went close to knocking The Block Sky High off its ratings mantle.

With its whole house reveal episode in Adelaide, House Rules on Channel Seven slotted into sixth place with 1.365 million viewers tuning in, according to OzTAM.

It was South Australian couple Carly and Leighton's turn to see their renovated home for the first time.

The master bedroom was the worst scored room, receiving only a four out of 10 by owner couple Carly and Leighton due to an unfinished paint job and the downsizing of a king size bed.

Channel Nine's The Block Sky High ratings had a 1.466 million Monday night audience; an impressive feat considering their reveal night is Sunday when they had a 1.3 million audience. Sky High was up against the new Australian drama on Channel Ten Reef Doctors which has been shifted to Friday nights following a dismal launch of just 357,000.

The Block Sky High's Madi and Jarrod, the New South Wales couple, scored a near-perfect 29-and-a-half out of 30 to pip West Australia's Matt and Kim by half a point on the Sky High judging when the teams had to renovate and decorate a spare bedroom and ensuite bathroom.

Melbourne continues to tune in the most, with House Rules rating 334,000 and The Block Sky High rating 543,000 on Monday.

The Voice semi finals – also on Channel Nine - took out the night with a rating of 1.747 million.

Nine News, A Current Affair and Seven News followed, with The Block Sky High ranking fifth.
