A tropical private island in the Bahamas has been listed for sale with price hopes of US$75 million. The 15-hectare island is in the yachting hotspot of the Exumas in the central Bahamas, and could draw attention from very well-heeled yachties.

Five private dwellings - Manor House, Beach Cottage, Harbourmaster House and the twin guest cottages of Buttonwood and Seagrape - sleep up to 25 and are available for the new owners and their guests, and up to 29 staff can be accomodated in the chef and butler’s house, engineer’s cottage, pilot’s lounge, domestic staff quarters and bunkhouse, in what George Damianos, of Damianos Sotheby's International, describes as a "staff village".

The island is accessible by boat and seaplane. It is likely that anyone who can shell out $US75 million will have both.

Those with shallower pockets can consider the Washington state island put up for sale by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, cyclone-damaged islands in far north Queensland, or Urunga Island off the coast of NSW.
