Sotheby’s International have listed part of one of Hunters Hill’s largest estates, The Haven.

The waterfront building block has been listed by the out of area estate agent James McCowan.

Offers close May 15 for the 858 square metre McBride Avenue riverfront holding that was long ago subdivided off by the late regional newspaper magnate John Armati and his widow Kate.

Armati had bought the 1859-built residence that sat on 5800 square metres for $7.25 million in 1997.

The 858 square metre block was transferred into the family’s investment company Macquarie Publications following its purchase.

Armati lived at The Haven until he died in 2017 when the main home was left to Kate.

Domain reports Kate "is not overly enthusiastic with the company’s decision to sell the waterfront block."

It added that the company was majority owned by Armati’s three daughters from his first marriage – Elizabeth Poate, Sally Armati and Katie Armati.

It further advised a "local source" indicated buyers are being told more than $4 million.
