A Red Hill trophy home has sold for $8 million breaking the long held Canberra sale price record.

The record was actually set by the neighboring holding which sold for $7.2 million in 2010.

Woodleigh, the Mugga Way property was sold by Lynlea and Clive Rodger who'd bought the home in 2000 for $2 million.

Built in 1980, the house sits on 7,963 sqm block.

The five bedroom, four bathroom estate has hosted the Open Gardens scheme and many musical events on its sweeping front lawns.

It was initially listed in spring 2018.

The two storey house has about 508 sqm of internal floor space, plus a tennis court, pool, and koi pond, among other features.
