Fashion designer Kelli Wharton and her husband Bradley Lloyd have bought in the Byron Bay hinterland.

The couple have been based in Suffolk Park, just south of Byron township, since paying $900,000 in 2008.

They have now spent $2.1 million on a 2.7 hectare estate in Newrybar with a modernised three-bedroom, 1920s home and new pool.

Harcourts Coastal agents Aiden Wilcox and Scott Vincent marketed the property as ideal for horses and cattle.

Wharton founded The Locale Group in 2005, with brands Talulah, Isla and Stevie May.
