Callala Beach on Jervis Bay on the South Coast has a record-setting $3.8 million offering.

It is the near-new luxury beachfront of Barbara Slatyer who started Barbara’s House & Garden in 1976.

Slatyer pioneered the homewares retail market after she and husband Harvey opened a shop in McMahons Point.

Within seven years the 20 stores had an annual turnover of more than $15 million.

The couple, who still run Haven & Space in Berry, paid $1.25 million for the block in 2016 before building the four-bedroom home with an internal lift.

Kellie Sprowles and Maddison Clark at Callala First National have the listing.

In May a property a few doors along sold for $2.31 million setting Callala Beach’s record.

The Slatyers are off to Far North Queensland to be near family.
