Singer Olivia Newton-John secured $4.6 million when her Dalwood estate, on the NSW north coast, sold last month.

Its buyer has emerged as Carol Klinkert, wife of businessman Stephen, who has 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry in South Africa, the UK and Australia.

The couple are based in Kenmore Hills, southwest of Brisbane, and also have a holiday home at Beaulieu-sur-Mer in the south of France.

The original Dalwood cottage was rebuilt in 2002 into a French-inspired country house with vintage timber doors and stone arches, along with a vast country-style kitchen.

There’s also a self-contained guest retreat along with two dams, a pond and tennis court.

The sale, which ended just short of 38 years of ownership, came after it was listed with hopes of more than $5 million through veteran agent Jillian McGrath.

The legendary 70-year-old entertainer initially bought the property in 1981 for $622,000, with adjoining land added in 1983 and more in 2015 to consolidate the 55 hectare property.

Its purchase came after her breakout role as Sandy in the 1978 box office hit, Grease, and then the release in 1981 of her chart-topping album, Physical.

Newton-John, based in Florida with her husband John Easterling, retains her stake in Gaia, near Byron, a wellness retreat co-founded in 2005.
