Open Cut = station is open-air, but located below ground level.
Underground cut and cover = a "station box" is excavated to create the space for the platforms/station facilities and then covered.

Contract value: $340 million
Contract value per kilometre: $85 million per k/m**
*** this is just the total / 4km. There's no explicit information on who's responsible for the grade sections or the Cudgegong Road station - I'd assume it is this contract, if so the $ per k/m would lower as there's approximately another 4km of "unaccounted for" track in the official information on the project's website (total length: 23km, accounted for: 15km tunnels, 4 km of skytrain, unaccounted for: 4km).
If we assume this contract includes the missing 4km then it's cost per km is $42.5 million per k/m for the civil and station works at grade and elevated.

- the operation part of the contract is for 15 years.
[i]- can't find explicit information on this, but I assume that a large part of the contract value will be dedicated to the cost of operating the services and maintaining the infrastructure for 15 years, thus NSW Gov will be paying instalments over 15 years

- Metropolis is just a brand name for all its trains which work best in urban (as opposed to mainline) environments.
- One city that uses Metropolis trains in a metro style system will have different specifications to another city - i.e train width, train height, 3rd rail or overhead power, number of doors per car etc - there's a high degree of localised specification for each system/everyone doesnt use the same specifications.
The communications-based train control will be Alstom's Urbalis 400 http://www.alstom.com/products-services/product-catalogue/rail-systems/s...
- the system that will enable the trains to run driver-less / remotely from a control room.
Contract also includes the construction of the Rapid Transit Rail Facility at the end of the line beyond the Cudgegong Road station as well as an operations centre.
This contract also includes the work required to convert the existing Epping-Chatswood rail line: installing the Urbalis system in the tunnels, adding platform screen doors to existing stations etc.
