The excited BM guy I spoke to gave me these stats:

- Drilling to 58.8m
- Bluestone at 48m
- 1.2m wide drill head
- Piling will commence in next week or two once it's all assembled

All In good time !! No wonder it will take quite a bit of it with 11m of bluestone to bore through and anchor this puppy down ..

Great news Adrian, this drilling and piling will take at least 6 months of work, if not more.

You're welcome Peter :)

It was good karma I got those pics as I had already left to go to city and thought "I'll just get one more shot of the big drill lying on the ground" (the last pic) so went all the way back and right on cue the truck pulled up !!

Equally fortunate the BM guy was there - giddy as a schoolboy - to chat to about it as well .. I don't think he'd ever seen piling equipment that big himself !

2 piling rigs with big berth got the screw assembled and cement poured in the ground means this one is officially underway !!!

A genuine Supertall in Melbourne is finally happening after all these years .. Who woulda thunk it ?

This may seem a stupid question, but where is all the soil and rock from the piling ? 58 meters of hole would fill many cubic meters.

^^ It's all going into the trucks and taken off-site as shown in the pic above on the left?

Articles in both The Australian and AFR today about the tower being 98% sold as announced during its own groundbreaking ceremony with the CEO of Aspial making a rare appearance.

Ryan S - do you think you could post the articles and pictures from both papers to complement the article of Aurora's CEO also being onsite the other day ?
