New Project Database

Hi all, if you haven't already noticed, we have a new Project Database page which now integrates the list and the map.

urban.melbourne/projectdatabase

You can now filter by status, suburb and postcode and the map & list is automatically updated as you filter.

Good way to get a snapshot on projects: Just filter by status (i.e Under Construction) and then Items per page: All and hit search - it'll give you a full list of Projects in the Database Under Construction/Registration & Sales/Approved etc.

- you'll notice how many projects still dont have a forum thread, need to do more grouping ;)

In the next week or so, I'm going to create a leaner view which will appear at the top of this Projects & Construction forum which will allow you to find Project threads easier if you just browse the forum.

Hi Alistair,
Love the site, its very useful. Quick question
Is there a way to get updates sent to my email regarding new developments in my local council only?
Out of interest, I have prepared my own excel spreadsheet of the current developments and want to make sure I see any new ones that come along but do not want to have to check through all the old ones to do so.
Keen to hear back
Cheers

I note you don't have Mornington returning from a search of this project database. I assume this is merely because there are no developments recorded as opposed to it (mistakenly if so) not being considered part of Melbourne?

There is an entire block of 3 and 4 level apartments going up on Blamey Place (behind Mornington Primary). At least one of the companies invloved is NewTech Homes, although I found no info on there website.

I've looked at 2-3 projects in Mornington at any given time and mulled over adding them to the Project Database.

Here is another project on the go - Parkvue
New Project Database

Ultimately our eyes and ears don't reach that far down so we can't keep tabs on the progression of any given project in Mornington. Nearmap updates are also infrequent.

So easier to let them be given very little of our readership are interested in Mornington.

Hi Alistair

This site is really well put together. I was wondering though is there any way we can search for projects being done by Singaporean Developers? I understand this is a stretch but if anyone could advise it would be much appreciated.

Hi Alistair,
Fantastic website.
Can you advise how often the project database page refreshes itself with the latest projects?

Nick

Hello Nick

The database is added to as projects reach advertising with their respective Council's. Thereafter any given listing is refreshed as information comes to light.

Of the 1,400 plus listings, on average there'd be about 15-20 refreshed or new entries per week, plus projects that are removed upon completion.

Cheers
Mark

It is a real shame you don’t include the large amount of development occurring on the Mornington Peninsula. If you aren’t including this now, there is no doubt you will need to in the near future. Nonetheless I’ve included a total of 35+ recent and expected developments below.

The Mornington Peninsula is a booming market and is consequently attracting plenty of development. It is no wonder the Mornington Peninsula has the highest property price growth rate in Australia. Only second to the Hobart market. The Mornington Peninsula is the only area in the Melbourne property market which hasn’t lost value over the past year (for both units and houses).

You can only imagine what is going to occur once the Mornington Peninsula Link is seamlessly extended via the Mordialloc Freeway to the Dingley Bypass in 2021. Furthermore, the Mordialloc Freeway is set to reduce the commute by 10mins from Frankston to the city. Therefore, the commute by car would only be 30mins or so. Not only that, the Mornington Peninsula will appear very affordable once the travel time is equivalent to that of more middle ring bayside suburbs. Additionally, the proposed Frankston flyer express train service will make the commute from Frankston station to the city also only 30mins (equivalent travel time to commuting from Cheltenham to the city). Also the electrification of the Frankston line to Baxter in 2019 is set to encourage investment into the area. This is along with the the phase 2 electrification to Stony Point further down the track. Existing level crossing removal works on the Frankston line is also expected to improve the commute. It is clear the area is set for some serious development on the back of the amount of infrastructure investment set to occur.

Melbourne’s population is definitely being pushed out into Melbourne’s outer south east. You only need to consider the fact the government is proposing a Koo Wee Rup Airport. An airport which is conveniently located near the Mornington Peninsula which continues to be a popular tourism destination. Not to mention the region is home to the renowned Jackalope Hotel which is named Australia’s best hotel.

Frankston’s developments are included however not the Mornington Peninsula? The Mornington Peninsula has an equivalent sized population to the 2nd largest city in Victoria being Geelong. The Mornington Peninsula also has a larger population than Frankston itself, yet it isn’t included and Frankston is. The Mornington Peninsula is also apart of greater Melbourne and within the urban growth boundary.

For those that are interested in developments on the Mornington Peninsula I’ve included 35+ here:

Hello! I’ve just finished my construction. I needed a large amount of high-quality plywood. I read the reviews and decided to order from these guys www.plyterra.com. The quality of plywood is just excellent and the price is reasonable. In general, I was very pleased. I advise it to everyone!
