Mitre Tavern

1-3 Bank Place

This pub has been a popular haunt for Melbourne’s business and artistic communities since it was licensed in 1868, but parts of the building may be from an earlier period. In the 1900s it was given its current medieval Queen Anne inspired exterior, with complementary rustic timber exterior.

Above, how it looked back in the 1950s and below a recent photograph of mine.
