Heard that the former bank building on the corner was originally part of the development, but the owner of the bank building got greedy, so the owners of the adjoining sites went ahead with a different design that did not include the bank.

Former design with the bank:

MELBOURNE | Royal Elizabeth | 151 Berkeley Street | 67m | 21L | Residential

As we all know, the owner of the former bank building is trying to get approval for an ARM designed development that incorporates the former bank:

MELBOURNE | Royal Elizabeth | 151 Berkeley Street | 67m | 21L | Residential

My educated guess is that it has little chance of approval being granted, way to close to Royal Elizabeth apartments.

Doesn't pay to be greedy sometimes.

I collect, therefore I am. thecollectormm.com.au

Think this and EQ are the most pleasing of the current bunch under construction

I like this building in itself (aside from the back, which will serve as a handy eyesore until a development happens there... but this does swamp the neighboring heritage building, and then there's the big question of what will happen on that site and what impact *That* will have on both this development and the heritage structure... so this may well be anther one to file under 'nice building, wrong place'.

(oh, also, let's see how well the green mesh bits survive over time. Are they painted metal? Because that almost never doesn't look tatty within a few years... which will be a shame beacuse the contrast between the green and the glass right now looks great)

I'm more worried about that other proposal, you know, the "hat" one.

I'm more worried about the eastern (??????) facade that can/will never be covered up.

Mesh is Colourbond or equivalent, no painting (hence the black covers over them)

Inactive southern facade has this at planning, although it's just moving along a problem

Is that a historic factory facade I see being retained at street level? That is genuinely surprising.

This is one I can get behind. It's not genre-defining but it's solid.
