New one for Yarra's Edge
30 level mixed use tower containing 229 apartments, 302 car spaces, 84 bicycle spaces and 229 square metres of ground level retail space
Council supports application
I like the idea of that green roof of the lawn ontop of that riverside building. It is a nice design and obviously the shorter of the YE towers as to step down near the townhouses. While not as architecturally daring as the other YE towers it is rather pleasant and it'll be interesting to see how the other two towers behind the enxt set of townhouses end up looking in regards to this.
Lets hope Mirvac buy up the blocks of land on the other side of Lorimer Street for future development one step back form the river.
It's sort of a curvilinear version of Yarra Point. Podium is fairly uninteresting for the most part.
Or even a more glassy version of one of the first Docklands towers across the river at Collins Square, V1.
I think the podium is fine for what it is, it appears to be integrated better the YE5's podium, even if that has the most amazing cladding of all the YE towers, it is only ground level activation.
Standard Mirvac formula for YE aside from the waterfront structure. Neither offensive nor earth shattering

$100 million tower to invigorate riverfront precinct. doc
Guy approves Mirvac Docklands tower
Victorian planning minister Matthew Guy has approved another Melbourne high-rise tower, despite concerns the city may become oversupplied with apartments.
Mr Guy has approved a $100 million tower of 30 levels that will hold 229 apartments at Mirvac’s Yarra’s Edge precinct in Docklands.
It will be the first tower in the riverside Bolte Precinct, which extends Yarra’s Edge towards the Bolte Bridge.
>>> last time i checked an approval doesn't mean they're going to sales off the bat. Correlating approval to oversupply - doesn't work that way
Forgot there was already a thread lol..
Marketing for the western precinct of Yarra's Edge has begun, area to be known as Wharf's Entrance, the apartment tower is known as Forge Apartments.
Diversity docks at the riverside
August 21, 2014 - 5:13PM
The first stage of Wharf's Entrance will comprise a 30-level, 228-apartment tower called Forge, 11 four-bed, four-level riverfront homes called Wharfside Residences and seven three-level Cargo Homes, each with the option of a home office on the ground floor. With the terraces anticipated to be completed in 2016, and Forge the next year, registrations of interest are now open for these two developments on the four-hectare riverfront site at the western end of Yarra's Edge, with the off-the-plan VIP release due to take place in September. Mirvac Group Executive Residential John Carfi says Wharf's Entrance is the final precinct in an area that has enjoyed strong sales success across its eight existing towers and 82 River Precinct homes, and is today a vibrant waterfront community of around 2,500 people. "This is a completely new precinct and we've taken the opportunity to remaster the plans to create a diversity of product type, bringing in a broader development mix, and harnessing the latest in technology," Carfi says. "When we started developing here in the late 1990s, we had a lot more empty nesters looking to move in, and they wanted almost gated communities. Mirvac forges entrance at Yarra's Edge
Marina, Park, River and now Wharf's Entrance. The final precinct in Mirvac's Yarra's Edge development will launch in October with the 228-unit Forge apartment building, 11 riverfront homes and seven home offices.
The diversified developer and investor has spent 10 years constructing a series of apartment towers and low-rise residences along a two-kilometre stretch of inner-city Yarra River bank. Now the final stage - a four-hectare parcel of land - is set to be developed.
It too, may take a decade to complete once work starts early next year on the first of a projected 700 residences that will house an estimated 2500 people.
The $100 million-plus first stage includes a 30-level curved glass and steel tower with the top six floors dedicated to premium one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
The remainder of the higher-end building will comprise a mix of artists studios, loft apartments, and one, two and three-bedroom apartments with a starting pricetag of $475,000, the group said.

The low-rise section is already under-construction I believe, or at least there is some kind of work happening in the area.
Here's an aerial view of the site from the end of November last year, taken from Nearmap. Not sure if the tower is under construction, but work is definitely taking place.
Piling starts next month on Forge apparently
