Looks like Grocon are looking to sell the Pixel site off also:
Grocon to sell award-winning Pixel building
Private developer Grocon is putting its ultra-green Pixel building in Melbourne on the market three years after the office project was completed.
That site warrants something spectacular because of its prominent position at the top of Swanston st. I hope the new owners are thinking along those lines.
piling for Swanston Square well underway
^ Exciting to see work has finally started on this one!
makes it fairly clear what is contexx/grocon and what is CEL's portion of the site (which is having its facade reinforced)
Great to see progress on this development.
Hopefully CEL do build something as good as Tower Melbourne on their part of the site.
Over the years this development has been watered down quite a lot in its overall concept, so we can only hope the outcome will be a good one for the city.
Very interesting I thought, to see this morning that they have now cordoned off this section of Carlton Brewery. Not sure if it's a safety thing after the tragedy earlier this year or it's actual progress?
There are strengthening works going on currently on those buildings.
Given the recent event at the site, its a wise move and likely one that stakeholders have agreed to do to minimise risk.
Will be great to see a skyscraper rise from there. Great historic podium and then hopefully a quality modern tower to go up there behind/on top of it.
Thanks for the pics in all threads Paul_D, it is great to see some progress happening on this site now. Swanston Square will be a much talked about building once erected by locals and visitors alike. I'm also excited to see what CEL have planned for the remainder of the site.
Observe. Design. Build. Live.
tower crane ready to go
The Design Hub cleaned up at the AIA Vic Chapter awards last night. Winner of the Victorian Medal and William Wardell prize for Public Architecture (new)beating Lyon's SAB building in the process.
On another note, the various incarnation's of McBride Charles Ryan's Building 1, no part of CEL Australia's development:

Grocon Lodges Plans For New Tower on CUB Site, 218 Flats, Seven Car Parks
GROCON has lodged plans to develop another dense residential building on a slice of the former Carlton & United Brewery site, abutting the city’s northern tip.
The Melbourne developer is seeking to build a 20-level building on a subdivided portion of the brewery with a 60 metre frontage to Bouverie Street.
The proposed building, with 218 flats, will include just seven car parks.
Would that be the wooden apartment building ?
seven, whats the point of having any?
^^ I'd say so. It appears to be the only space they have left on that street.
It was called Delta last time around wasn't it?
wonder how many bike spaces this will have? agree that the amount of car spaces are not worth it...
Grocon probably abandoned the Delta project after Lend Lease built Forte (taller than what Delta was going to be). Delta was originally meant to start construction same time as Swanston Square. Hopefully this new one will look ok.
I think CEL own the Delta/wooden tower site. I think this is proposed for further up on Bouverie adjacent to Pixel.
I think this is the McBride Charles Ryan site between Pixel and what was Delta.
The 7 car spaces might be for some sort of car share program.
Delta is the wooden tower
