A fitting statement in the built form for our architects.
I collect, therefore I am.
Agree Peter, I've noted over at skyscrapercity that there are plenty of people who don't like this one, dunno why, I think it's one of the most interesting towers going up at the moment.
On the other hand, to people who dont like the building your statement "A fitting statement in the built form for our architects" could be read as a back handed compliment to some architects who insist on inficting dross on our city :)
A fitting statement either way, well done!
it will stand out when its finished. its one of those skyscrapers that ordinary people who dont care about architecture will look up at and think 'wow - thats cool!" - and i like that :)
I love seeing a bit of creativity in any skyscraper design and this one fits the bill.
Not a huge fan of the front elevation, but the cut out parts really do add some great design elements.
The diversity of style this building brings to the city is priceless to me. Perhaps our signature style isn't a genre of architecture in itself or one particular style/look, as much as the willingness to experiment with bold new designs everywhere?
Couple more pics from the last few days:
just about done for height
Coming along well.
Looks really good! Also looks great when looking from Southbank, adds some diversity to the skyline. Anyone know whether the rooftop cinema/bar is still happening here?
Observe. Design. Build. Live.
^^ Some great shots there Laurence!
I especially like the first one.
Very interesting building. I like the adventurous path the architect took in designing this.
