They are re-developing the display office which has been empty onsite for a few years now. It is getting a big 'curved' metal awning-like structure on the corner and looks like it is being expanded a bit.

Carrington Road is already backed up due to the busses, cars and deliveries. Will be interesting to see how they pull this one off.

Didn't get a photo as I went by, but the display suite is well under construction and large hoardings are up out the front.

Jeff Xu: Melbourne apartment market strong

Melbourne-based Chinese developer Golden Age insists the Melbourne apartment market is still healthy after launching its landmark Box Hill project, Sky One, over the weekend, shrugging off recent concerns about price falls.

The company is also expecting to launch a luxury apartment development in Sydney’s Rocks district later this year while chasing more projects in the country’s two biggest cities, according to founder and managing director Jeff Xu.

“We are very happy about the sales in the Sky One project in Box Hill over the weekend,” Mr Xu told The Australian. “It is a testament to what we are good at, and proves the demand for quality apartments in Melbourne is still strong.”

Sky One, located at 545 Station Street, is a 36-storey, 122.8 metre apartment tower that will be home to 438 apartments above a three-level food emporium and health, wellbeing and beauty hub. It is Golden Age’s second project in Box Hill.

Eighty-five per cent of stage one was sold on the weekend launch, totalling over $140 million, the company said, noting strong interest from the local market.

“In regards to the property market, what I want to say is the market is not crazy any more, but it is still very strong and healthy. And the huge success of Sky One is a great example,” he said.

Hurrah. I first worked on this site about 7/8 years ago when the first tower proposal was coming to light (working for a referral authority)

Great to see physical work start.

Thanks Mark - I train/tram through Box Hill all the time now so will be able to provide some regular updates once it's above ground - as noted it's a real bee hatch to get shots of the pit from ground level its boarded up so well.
