#Spill #Spill.... then no #spill :( Politics in the country is uninspiring at the moment...

yeah what a shemozzle.

you can't help but feel Simon Crean was the sacrificial lamb earlier in on the day... i.e the whole thing was orchestrated. Who knows Gillard might now come out swinging or sink to even lower lows.

So far only NSW and the ACT have signed on to the Gonski funding arrangements put forward by Labor. The PM is saying the deadline for the remaining states to sign up is the 30th of June.

Seems unreasonably soon to me, given the election is in September. It might be better politically for Labor to be able to announce it as each new state signs up in the final few weeks of the campaign when they need every boost they can get.

I bet the renegades in QLD and WA won't sign up. They may as well be different countries though at this point, the way they carry on about how special they are for digging rocks out of the ground. Because economies dependent on their primary sector are sooooo smart.

I think that they have to sign up by June 30 as that is the last day parliament sits. After that parliament is dissolved and Labor are in caretaker mode, and so technically cant pass any legislation, thus unable to sign anyone else up. There may be a few weeks grace before writs are issued for the election, so they may be using that as a fail safe.

Agree with you on WA and QLD. Campbell Newman is a dictator of the worse kind, and will hold out just so he can pat himself on the back for not bowing to anyone else. Shame Queenslanders' education will suffer as a consequence. And to think their number plate slogan used to be 'Queensland - The Smart State'! Oh the irony!

A bit late, Rudd in and Gillard out. Wonder what will happen to Julia now? She could easily just sit back and live off the $200k/year pension for the rest of her days... but something tells me that she will pop up soon.

Awful way to go. Being my local member, really felt for her. Despite her current unpopularity amongst voters, I think history will treat her kindly given some of the big ticket items she was able to push through, in a minority government no less. Agree that I don't think she'll kick back and do nothing. Given she has no kids, a plumb diplomatic post perhaps? Hmmm, actually, that may require K-Rudd's endorsement, so maybe not!

Melbourne Football Club president? If Jeff can do it... :)

Yeeaah maybe? but isn't she a doggies supporter? I wouldn't mind seeing her as the Bulldogs President one day. Though I believe Susan Alberti will be the first woman president for the bulldogs and in the AFL.

random public braindumping ideas for articles: looking at individual party's policies for cities.... possible?

No-one will frame policy areas around "cities" - might need a bit of help in research / conjuring up public sources of information....
