A median priced house in Melbourne cost $660,000 in the December quarter, according to CoreLogic RP Data.

The city's median house price was up 1.8% from the previous month's result, and up 8.4% year-on-year. Melbourne houses are the second most expensive in the country, with Sydney's median house price clearing Melbourne's by almost $200,000, at $858,000.

Property Observer looks to recent sales to see just what $660,000 will buy you in Melbourne.

 

This three bedroom, corner block home in Melbourne's northern suburbs sold for $659,000 in late November. The house has one bathroom with a spa bath, an open plan living and dining area and a separate lounge room, with hardwood floors throughout. The 847 square metre site includes outdoor entertaining areas and a sizeable backyard.

A circa 1950s weatherboard house secured $660,000 when sold in October last year. There are three bedrooms, a study and one bathroom, with timber flooring. The house sits on a 836 square metre plot, around 27 kilometres from Melbourne's CBD.

Buyers paid $660,000 for this double storey Bundoora home last month. The five bedroom, two bathroom house sits 671 square metres. It also includes a formal lounge and dining area, an open plan living and dining space, a study and an additional living area upstairs.

A three bedroom house sold for $660,000 in Melbourne's Western suburbs last November. The weatherboard house has polished timber floors, a garage with a separate workshop, and built in robes in each of the bedrooms. It's set on a 670 square metre block.
