Quote of the week: John Ibrahim's sister Maha Sayour

Jonathan ChancellorDecember 8, 2011

- Maha Sayour, the sister of Kings Cross identity John Ibrahim, told police during raids when $2.86 million in cash was found hidden in the ceiling of her South Wentworthville house.

She has pleaded not guilty to dealing recklessly with the proceeds of crime after the stockpile of banknotes was seized.

None of the 13 finger and palm prints found on the money bags matched hers. In a video recording played to the court, Sayour is heard telling police that her brother John gave her $500 a week to help with the mortgage.

She also said that she had been renovating the house for several years and had "one kitchen for looking and one kitchen for cooking".

The house cost $159,950 in 1991.
