Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews performed a sod turning ceremony marking the imminent construction of a $1.2 billion commercial precinct, Merrifield Business Park, in Melbourne’s north.

Strategically positioned in Melbourne’s northern growth corridor, the $1.2 billion, 330ha Merrifield Business Park will commence construction later this year, and is expected to generate up to $3.5 billion annually for Victoria.

Merrifield Business Park is part of the broader Merrifield project, the largest master planned community in Victoria, spanning 770ha in total, including 4,000 homes, a 110-hectare city centre and the 330ha business park.

The broader Merrifield project will deliver 25,000 direct jobs, while the business park alone will accommodate up to 11,000 direct and 20,000 indirect jobs once complete.

Statistics also show Merrifield Business Park will account for 16-26% of future employment growth in the City of Hume.

Iconic Australian paint manufacturer Dulux is the first company to announce that it will be moving into Merrifield, alongside businesses from the food services, logistics and warehousing sectors, as well as white collar industries also showing interest in commercial land in the north.

Merrifield Business Park’s positioning near major transport infrastructure – Hume Melbourne International Airport, Somerton Intermodal Terminal - enables the delivery of goods and services to over 80% of the Australian population within 12 hours.

Merrifield is a joint venture between MAB Corporation and Gibson Property Corporation.
