Lend Lease has announced Italian food and wine emporium Mercato e Cucina will open at its Barangaroo South development.

The 700 square metre store will open in early 2016. The store will be run by the brother and sister team Vanessa and Robert Martin, who made their reputation at their Gladesville outlet.

It will be on the new harbourside eat street precinct which will include Gelato Messina and Bourke Street Bakery.

Their genuine Italian hospitality serves up home-style ‘Nonna-worthy’ meals prepared by the head chef Vanessa Martin.

The venue will be inclusive of a panini bar, a walk through cellar, a fresh produce section, delicatessen, bakery and patisserie.
