Jam Factory set for $16 million makeover as Topshop moves in
Melbourne shopping centre the Jam Factory is to get a $16 million refurbishment due for completion by June 2012.
The largest renovation in the Jam Factory’s 32-year retail history will be the rollout of the first Australian store for global fashion giant Topshop at the Chapel Street, South Yarra site.
Topshop is a leading UK-based high street retailer, with over 750 stores worldwide.
Its 1,600-square-metre concept store will house both the Topshop and Topman brands, and is expected to open for trade prior to Christmas 2011.
“The revamp is a major milestone in our longer term redevelopment plans,” Challenger Diversified Property Group fund manager Trevor Hardie says.
He says many existing Jam Factory retailers are expected to introduce new concept store format to complement the extensive renovation.
Target has also chosen the Jam Factory for its late August launch of Urban by Target – an inner-city compact concept store carrying Target’s core range of apparel and soft home wares.
