The Industry Superannuation Property Trust has plans for a $70 million retail and office redevelopment on Queen Street Mall to create flagship retail space to lure Zara, Topshop and Forever21 to Brisbane.

The $70 million-plus development adds to the $500 million it has already spent in the past two years on the mall, which is regarded as the most successful outdoor mall in Australia.

“We have been looking to enhance these assets for some time and we believe this is the right time because there are a number of global retailers looking to gain a presence here,” ISPT development director Chris McCluskey told The Australian Financial Review.

“We have enormous faith in south-east Queensland as an economic hub.”

ISPT’s figures suggest about 100,000 people move through the Queen Street Mall every day.
