McLaren Vale winery Wirra Wirra has acquired the boutique Ashton Hills vineyard in the Adelaide Hills.

The 3 hectare vineyard produces grapes for pinot noir wines.

The sale, at an undisclosed price, was brokered by Toby Langley of Gaetjens Langley, according to The Australian Finncial Review.

It is a very small winery in the European mould established in 1982 by the legendary winemaker Stephen George.

The fine elegant wines, plus bigger bodied wines made for the second label, Galah, are available for tasting at the friendly and bucolic cellar door, where the winemaker is often in attendance.

The 3.07 hactare vineyard comprises 2.69 hectares of Pinot Noir and 0.39 hectares of Riesling.
