A corner development site in Melbourne’s eastern suburb of Camberwell has sold for $9,188,888 through Savills.

The property at 553-555 Burke Road is within the prestigious Anderson Hill residential precinct.

It is being offered with a recently approved permit for a mixed-use project comprising 29 luxury apartments and four ground-level shops.

The site sits in an elevated position with potential for views, says the description.

The 1,427 sqm site was offered through expressions of interest.

It is close to Stockland Tooronga Shopping Centre and close to public transport.

The selling agents were Julian Heatherich, Jesse Radisich and Benson Zhou of Savills.

The sale price ending in '888' is considered lucky in many Asian cultures, particularly China. The number eight, and long numbers with lots of eights in them, along with number combinations that form eight (e.g. 71, where 7 + 1 = 8), are extremely lucky.
