The No Land Tax Party candidate Peter Jones has missed out on his seat in the NSW Legislative Council.

The party was thought likely to win the 21st and last position up for grabs in the NS Upper House, but lost out to the Animal Justice Party.

The ABC election analyst Antony Green told 2GB's Ray Hadley that Green preferences swung the final result.

Animal Justice Party parliamentarian Mark Pearson said he was thrilled that the voice of animals would be heard in a house of parliament for the first time.
