UBS analysts suggest an internal candidate is likely to replace outgoing GPT chief executive Michael Cameron.

They have been pinpointed its chief investment officer Carmel Hourigan, chief financial officer Mark Fookes and head of funds management Nicholas Harris as likely candidates.

An internal succession plan underway for some time needs to be possibly activated given Michael Cameron's exit to Suncorp.

As rumours rise and get shot down, the DEXUS chief executive Darren Steinberg says his group had no interest in merging with GPT.
