Architect Justin Madden joins Arup engineering consultancy

Former Victorian government planning minister and AFL footballer Justin Madden has joined engineering consultancy Arup's Melbourne office as a senior consultant.

"Justin brings with him significant experience and understanding of theareas of strategic project delivery and planning for major infrastructureand building projects," Arup's Melbourne office leader Joseph Correnza told Fairfax Media.

Based in Victoria, Madden's focus includes the ongoing development of the local built environment, working with public and private sector clients in helping deliver their project outcomes.

Madden's career includes 15 years in the Victorian Parliament, having held seven ministerial portfolios within successive Victorian labor governments across 11 years. Prior to his parliamentary career, Madden held the role of president of the AFL Players Association during an AFL career totalling 332 AFL games with both Carlton and Essendon football clubs.

Madden is also a registered architect.
