The Blue Buddha is a new vegan offering to Melbourne’s café scene.

Officially opened on 27 July, the vegan café is located opposite the Queen Victoria markets.

With a focus on Fairtrade, organic and vegan coffees and food, the store’s fit out also includes recycled materials for their tables, chairs and crockery.

The food includes raw cakes, such as avocado chocolate cake, and a shitake mushroom based vegan bacon.

Located at 30/1 O'Connell Street, North Melbourne, it is a small 44 square metre site now painted with a frontage of a blue Buddha, to match the shop’s title.

Upstairs is currently available for lease as student accommodation in the Victoria Terrace Apartments development with 15 studio and 12 one-bedroom fully furnished apartments from $280 per week through Student Housing Australia.
